PMC speakers
G.V. Prakash spends his working life listening critically. He mixes and masters on PMC monitors, the UK-made speakers used in professional studios, and he wanted his home theatre to hold the same standard.
That set the bar for the project: the room had to let a precision speaker system perform the way it does in a studio.
He also had a clear visual idea: a Rolls-Royce inspired starlight ceiling, a simple look and feel.

Why Spectral Synthesis
Why Spectral Synthesis
Uncontrolled reflections, room modes, and outside noise can make even high-end speakers sound muddy. Our role was to ensure that the room itself was engineered to support the desired cinematic experience, rather than treating acoustics as an additional layer after the interior was designed.
This meant looking at the theatre as a complete system, where the interiors, soundproofing, and treatment work together.

Our approach
01
Technical brief:
We started with the client's inputs and turned them into a technical requirements sheet covering speaker sizes, target playback levels and seating.
02
Speaker layout:
Speaker positions were worked out with Dolby's room configuration tool, using the room's exact dimensions: 500 sq ft with a 12 ft ceiling. That room size supports a 9.2.4 layout, with nine listener-level channels, two LFE channels and four overhead channels. Every speaker was specified with at least 3 dB of headroom above the target listening level, so peaks stay clean at full volume.
03
Speakers and processing
The system runs on 17 PMC speakers, the same brand G.V. Prakash mixes on in his studio. Three PMC 8-2 XBD speakers carry the left, centre and right channels, where most of the dialogue and score sits. Ten PMC 6-2 XBD units handle the surround channels, and four PMC 8-2 subwoofers carry the low-frequency effects. A Trinnov Altitude 32 immersive audio processor handles Atmos decoding and processing for the full system.
04
2D and 3D drawings:
The speaker layout, treatment and interiors were drawn in 2D and 3D and shared with the client for review.
05
Isolation:
Then the theatre was built as an isolated shell, a room within a room, so it doesn't disturb the house, and the house doesn't disturb the theatre. The floor was floated first, then the walls, on acoustic blocks from Getzner. Layers of plywood, cement board and gypsum were built over them. A custom soundproof door was built to match the walls' isolation at a sensible cost.
06
Acoustic treatment:
We calculated the room modes across length, breadth and height, then balanced them so that no single bass frequency dominates. Low frequencies decay naturally, so an explosion in one scene doesn't linger into the dialogue of the next. Broadband absorbers control reflections, tuned low-frequency absorbers control the bass, and diffusers scatter sound to keep the room lively rather than dead.
07
Interiors:
The treatment sits behind acoustic fabric, which lets sound through to the absorbers and gives the room its finish. The fabric is black and the palette is simple, so nothing bounces light once the screen is on. Overhead, a starlight ceiling gives the room its Rolls-Royce character.

The result
The result
The home theatre became not just a room to watch films in, but a cinematic experience where the sound, space and visuals come together. Sound stays inside the theatre, and the finished room measures a reverberation time (RT60) of 0.7 seconds. The project reflects our broader approach to acoustic engineering, where sound quality and interior design are planned together from the beginning.

Acoustic consultation
We assess your space, understand your goals, and shape ideas where sound and aesthetics work together, so the room performs and still looks the way you imagined.

Acoustic work
Once the acoustic consultation and design is set, our specialized team takes it from plan to reality. Acoustic materials are custom built in our workshop, isolation systems are sourced to German standards, and every installation carries the precision our team has spent two decades perfecting.

Acoustic design
A complete acoustic design of your space, visualized in 3D and tuned to your room's ratio, boundaries, and purpose, with isolation and soundproofing included wherever the space demands it.
